Remembering Abdu’l-Baha in Paris
Adbu’l-Baha lived a remarkable life and the local community of Banyule in Melbourne gathered together to reflect on Abdu’l-Baha’s time in Paris. This was shared with the community at a local amphitheatre where a beautiful three-metre tall 3D structure of the Eiffel Tower was created for the day, setting the scene in Paris circa 1921.
The program began with writings from Abdu’l-Baha and was followed by a play. The play depicted two young women walking the parks of Paris near the River Seine discussing the life of Abdu’l-Baha—beginning in Iran, the exile He endured with Baha’u’llah and His travels to the West. A live performance of La Vie en Rose was played on the saxophone to accompany the scenes. The play ended with ideas of what 100 years, from 1921, would look like and how we may be using His example to get through some of the toughest years of humanity.
The program concluded with poems by Abdu’l-Baha about love and the power of unity, leading into two musical pieces on the saxophone: Imagine by John Lennon and What a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong.
