Exhibition in Albany to mark International Day of Peace
From 15th to 30th September 2021, the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Albany in Western Australia arranged an exhibition in the Albany Public Library to mark the International Day of Peace (21st September 2021). The goal of world peace is central to Baha’i belief. Abdu’l-Baha spoke about peace extensively and encouraged harmony in all areas of society.
The exhibition at the Albany Public Library prominently displayed quotations from Abdu'l-Baha, as did posters and photographs submitted by youth.
A prominent feature was the "Peace Tree", on which visitors to the exhibition were invited to think about how they could bring unity and peace to their family and those around them, then write their ideas on a paper "apple" and pin it on the tree. By the end of two weeks, the tree was bursting with fruit.
